Course Description

In El arte de escribir en la era digital (The Art of Writing in the Digital Age) you will focus on narrative, expository, and argumentative modes of writing using college level discourse. We will also discuss the rhetorical situation, argumentation and support of ideas, responsible documentation of sources, and research techniques. While writing in any language requires a certain type of effort, attention, and time, we will approach writing in a spirit of play and creativity! This course emphasizes writing as a process, good writing involves several steps including brainstorming, planning, research, free-writing, editing and revision. You will collaborate with others and dialogue about your choices in a supportive workshop environment. The most innovative aspect of this course will be our exploration of digital tools that will allow you to gain valuable experience and confidence publishing in the digital universe! Digital and visual literacies are vital, marketable skills today in any discipline. You should expect to improve your Spanish literacy, accuracy, fluency and confidence in all the skills if you apply yourself and stay motivated. Furthermore, communication and rhetorical skills transfer to any other languages you use.
