This seminar is designed to examine the topic of child abuse from a psychological perspective. We will focus on exploring the psychological and social factors that influence the development and experience of various
forms of child abuse. We will identify various risk and protective factors as well as the impact of child abuse on the development and psychological well-being of “victims and their families. Lastly, we will evaluate the problem of child abuse from a social/ contextual perspective and discuss the various mechanisms for
preventing and responding to abuse.
