PRIMARY CARE OF ADULTS/GERIATRICS PRACTICUM III
Course Description
This precepted practicum facilitates the transfer of advanced clinical theory coursework into practice. Students will integrate advanced clinical knowledge in the care and nursing management of geriatric patients with complex issues using a family centered culturally congruent nursing approach. Additional emphasis will be placed on the client and family at the end of life, Students will be working collaboratively with nurse practitioners, physicians and other members of the health-care team. Selecting, and prescribing appropriate drug therapy for patients during both acute and chronic phases of illness will be an integral component of the practicum. There is a requirement of 135 clinical hours in the role of the nurse practitioner.
