Course Description
Intermediate American Sign Language I is a continuation of American Sign Language & Deaf Culture I and II. Through class discussions, pair/group work, simulations, and presentations, students will receive enhancement of the receptive and expressive skills required to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL). Intermediate ASL I includes grammar review and features extensive discussions of deaf culture, as well as an expansion of vocabulary. The course is conducted entirely in ASL. Students will also write a research paper related to a prominent figure in the deaf community. There will also be a service learning component.
