This is a team-taught course linking Ramapo College students and students of Volgograd State Pedagogical University. The class will compare and contrast mutual images of both the United States and Russia. Using a multi media and multidisciplinary rich environment we will focus upon popular music of each nation--from Rock to rap to classical--key paintings from each nation, short stories and poetry that speak to the essence of each society, movies and TV shows that reveal the basic values and character of each nation and classic iconographic photographs of each culture. Each class session will use video conferencing technology to link students of both nations so each will share the same classroom presentations and participate in live discussions together. All assignments will be done with cross national pairs of students.
