The course will establish the theoretical background of Existentialism; survey existentialist themes in the Bible and Greek tragedy; study in-depth, selected works of French Existentialists, such as Andre Malraux, Simone de Beauvoir, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, and the "dramatists of the absurd"; and analyze how form and techniques reflect philosophical assumptions.
