MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS
Course Description
The course consists of a comprehensive and practical analysis of corporate acquisitions. It covers the fundamentals of (1) leveraged buyouts (LBO) and (2) M&A transactions (mergers and acquisitions). The course equips students with a deep understanding of the process of acquiring a corporation as well as key drivers and metrics used in the acquisition analysis. It offers useful guidelines on how to provide a recommendation regarding a potential acquisition. It exposes the student to the different scenarios and motivating circumstances behind the sale of a business and it provides a practical step-by-step guide to analyzing the value of a potential acquisition including the financing structure of the transaction. Furthermore, this course includes an Excel-based modeling component. Students will use a set of Excel financial models to input critical transaction assumptions and assess the potential value creation behind an acquisition.
