Course Description

This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of planning, managing, and analyzing public relations (PR) campaigns. It provides an introduction to the purpose, functions, and methods of domestic and international public relations practice. You will learn about the role of PR in transforming and maintaining the perceptions and attitudes of publics via strategic communication planning. The
course explores a range of public relations disciplines, their approaches, communication tools, as well as the process of creating and targeting audiences for PR communication campaigns. The value of traditional and new media will be examined in PR storytelling, media relations, and campaign delivery activities. You will learn, as well as apply, The Public Relations Society of America's Code of Ethics in coursework related to past and present real-world public relations scenarios. Overall, you will be exposed to content that can support entry level experiences in a variety of professional strategic communication environments.
