NARRATIVE DRAWING AND PAINTING

Art (ARTS) Contemporary Arts

Course Description

The impulse to tell a story through visual means is ancient and ongoing. From prehistoric cave paintings to graphic novels, to social media “stories,” our desire to visually narrate experiences compels us. In this course, students will explore visual storytelling through a variety of 2-D graphic media and painting. From a single image to multiple panels, students will learn the formal and conceptual challenges of narrative drawing and painting while honing their own artistic voice. Students are encouraged (but not required) to have taken ARTS 210 Life Drawing before this class.

Art supplies are estimated to cost $75, but students are encouraged to use supplies they already own when possible.
