EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION

Art (ARTS) Contemporary Arts

Course Description

Experimental animation is a form of animation in which motion pictures have their own rhythm and movement. There is no linear narrative or specific structure. Experimental Animation is subjective and usually deals with philosophic and spiritual concerns. We will review the principles of animation and think about ways to break the rules; watch and analyze a wide range of alternative animations; become familiar with the names and careers of key artists and filmmakers; and facilitate intermediate level projects based on prompts and specific assignments that focus on student creativity and technical proficiencies.
